Art in schools (and elsewhere!)

This week’s blog starts with a cartoon for #oktosay.

March has been a busy old time for Scartoons: lots to do in so many different ways. There’s the sequel to the book in production, finalising the details of the new-look cartoon workshops ready for the Summer Term, and even a collaboration with two other artists in preparing art lessons for children across the UK as part of a major arts educational project. I can’t give many details at this stage, for reasons of confidentiality, but watch out for later in the year for news on it!

Today I’m posting about some of the non-cartooning arty stuff Scartoons has been doing. Here are some pictures of artwork from my art classes at Kidsgrove Care Services. The first is a set of clay pots/scultpures created and painted by my students there.
The next picture is of some masks – work in progress! We’ll be covering these with mache and painting them up.

I also run school classes with pupils in the 6-11 age range. They’ve used a range of media to create their pieces. This school was so impressed with the work created, that they’ve framed the pictures on the walls in the corridors for all to see!
